Project overview

Culture as the starting point.

The heritage exhibition at the eighth Nanjing Historical and Cultural Cities Expo ran from 28 May to 27 August 2018. It explored techniques including brocade, velvet flowers, mortise-and-tenon joinery, gold leaf and folding fans.

The approach

Thirty historical objects were presented alongside nearly one hundred innovative works by designers from around the world. The exhibition connected craft research, creative reinterpretation and the development of new work.

The connection

The project recorded more than 100,000 onsite visits. Online communication and subsequent touring-exhibition broadcasts extended the audience, while more than 200 mainstream media outlets covered the project.
